Barca or Spurs for Nigerian international?

Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi could be in line for a major move from Leicester City to Tottenham Hotspur next summer, with Spanish champions Barcelona also interested in the midfielder, according to reports by Punch Sports.

Ndidi, 26, has been linked with a departure from Leicester since the team’s relegation from the Premier League. While other key players such as Harvey Barnes, James Maddison, and Timothy Castagne left the club last season, Ndidi remained and has been a vital player for the Foxes this season.

However, Ndidi’s contract with Leicester is set to expire at the end of the season, and whether he stays will largely depend on the club’s chances of securing promotion back to the Premier League. Leicester, led by Enzo Maresca, currently sits at the top of the Championship standings and if they continue their strong form, they are likely to secure an immediate return to the top flight.

Barcelona has previously shown an interest in Ndidi, even when Leicester were still in the Premier League, but they were deterred by his £60 million valuation. However, with the financial crisis the Catalan club is currently facing, the chances of a move for Ndidi might be unlikely, unless he agrees to join them on a free transfer.

Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently dealing with an injury crisis, would benefit greatly from the signing of Ndidi. The Nigerian midfielder would fit well into Ange Postecoglou’s side at Spurs. With his wealth of Premier League experience from his time at Leicester, Ndidi would have an immediate impact at Tottenham, much like his former teammate Maddison.

Given the growing interest in Ndidi from Barcelona and other clubs across Europe, it would be crucial for Tottenham to initiate negotiations as soon as possible in order to secure his transfer for next season, potentially gaining an edge over their rivals in the process.
