Napoli appointed a new coach, but will they lose Victor Osimhen?

Chelsea are reportedly feeling optimistic about securing the transfer of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, but they may have to exercise patience and wait until next summer for the deal to materialize.

The 24-year-old striker had an outstanding season last year and played a crucial role in Napoli’s long-awaited Serie A triumph after 33 years.

Osimhen displayed his prowess by scoring 26 goals in 32 league appearances last season and has continued his impressive form with six goals in 10 games this campaign.

According to The Standard, Osimhen is open to a move to Chelsea, although it appears that The Blues might have to wait until next summer to make the signing.

The report suggests that Napoli values Osimhen at over £100m, and their president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is unlikely to entertain offers for the striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

Following the sacking of manager Rudi Garcia, Napoli appointed Walter Mazzarri as their new coach, and De Laurentiis envisions Osimhen playing a pivotal role in leading the team’s resurgence under the new leadership.

Chelsea are reportedly contemplating whether to pursue a new striker in January, and a final decision is expected to be made in December, with the club keeping all options open.

During the summer transfer window, Osimhen attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, with Manchester United being among those linked with a potential move for the Nigerian international.
