Papiss Cisse is back in English football!

Robbie Savage is buzzing with excitement as ambitious Macclesfield FC continues to make waves in the football world. This phoenix club, rising from the ashes of Macclesfield Town, has made back-to-back promotions since their humble beginnings in the North West Counties Premier Division in 2020.

Savage, who holds the position of director of football at Macclesfield, is constantly striving to elevate the team’s performance. To achieve this, he has set his sights on signing a former Premier League striker on a free transfer – a move that would undoubtedly make a statement.

Papiss Cisse, the former Newcastle United star, is the man currently training with the non-league side. Despite being a free agent at the age of 38, Cisse’s goal-scoring prowess has not diminished, as evidenced by his impressive tally of 12 goals for Ligue 2 side Amiens SC last season.

Interestingly, the Macclesfield connection with Cisse arose due to the player’s desire to maintain his fitness while living in the area. This opportunity to train with Alex Bruce, the manager and son of former Newcastle boss Steve Bruce, is an arrangement that both parties find mutually beneficial.

Our sources also reveal that Macclesfield FC has welcomed other high-profile players to train with the squad, including former Everton forward Oumar Niasse. Clearly, Macclesfield is making a name for itself as a club that attracts talent from higher levels of the game.

As Macclesfield FC continues its upward trajectory, with Robbie Savage at the helm, the potential addition of Papiss Cisse to their ranks would undoubtedly be a significant coup. Only time will tell if this talented striker will don the Macclesfield jersey and help propel the club to even greater heights in their remarkable journey through the football pyramid.
