Sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo at Al Ittihad: Clash with star player among reasons for departure

Nuno Espirito Santo, the Portuguese football expert, has parted ways with Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia, as reported by the club.

The current champions of Saudi Arabia made the decision to sack the Portuguese coach following a string of poor results, although the dismissal was not solely due to the team’s performance.

During a match in the Asian Champions League, Espirito Santo raised his voice during half-time, as did Benzema, which led to a verbal altercation and exchange of insults on both sides. This incident was another contributing factor to his departure.

Espirito Santo joined Al Ittihad a year ago after spending five years in the Premier League, where he managed Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur.

Currently, Al Ittihad sits in sixth place in the Saudi Premier League.
